Why NHS Approved Prescription Vaping Is Such An Important Step

Why NHS Approved Prescription Vaping Is Such An Important Step

Almost every vaper in the world has bought vape juice flavours due to its comparative safety compared to smoking. Not only does the heat not burn technology mean that there’s less chance of a fire, but it sheds cigarettes’ most dangerous qualities – it’s excretion of carcinogenic, polluting and toxic chemicals into the human body. It’s this that has led millions across the UK to quit smoking for good and start enjoying a less unhealthy life.

The world has started to wake up to the benefits of vaping, most recently in the NHS’s approval of vaping as a prescription medication for smoking. For years now, many anti-smoking charities have been supporting the best vape juice brands UK as a method of quitting smoking for good, and now the national health authorities have caught up with causes like Stoptober and Cancer Research UK.

So what are the ins and outs of the new law, and what does it mean for the future of e-liquid in the UK?

NHS Prescription Vaping

So what’s all the fuss about? In October last year – during the Stoptober Campaign – NHS England declared its aim to begin prescribing vape devices on the NHS for various ailments and conditions. This plan was set in motion as a means to improve the lung health of smokers with underlying health conditions and to further push a ban on smoking by the year 2030.

How It Works

It won’t be as easy as you think to get hold of vape devices for free through the NHS. E-cigs will be prescribed on a case by case basis and will have to be shown to benefit the condition of the patient. Furthermore, it will most likely be prescribed in tandem with other medications as well. Since the plan has not yet been put into action, there’s no way to know exactly how it will work though, so we’ll just have to wait and see as the prescription plan gets rolling.

What It Means For Smokers

With more than a third of people surveyed recently in Scotland supporting the use of e-cigs as part of the NHS, it seems there’s a real appetite for the move across the UK. Whilst vaping has been successful in helping many ex-smokers quit for good, there are many who do not have the means or the impetus to quit by themselves. With the help of the NHS then, even more people, especially those in the most drastic need of a healthier lifestyle, will have the means to quit smoking for good.

What It Means For Vape Companies

Are you a vape company who wants to get involved in the NHS contracts to come? It won’t be easy, there are even more rigorous checks to be put in place to make sure that vape companies ingredients, technology and ethos aligns with the standards of the NHS, thus ensuring maximum safety for their prescription base. This is all positive though, as the plan comes underway, more and more vape companies will try to improve their technology and methods to the highest standard possible. A win-win for all involved!
